Both hubby and I saw it on the news while having lunch.  I smell a hoax. 

But if there is a kid involved, this can't end well.  Hate to bad mouth my fellow Coloradans, but there are some mighty stupid people around here.

Just saw an update... balloon thingy is down but there's no sign of the kid.  I really smell a hoax now.   The Wife Swap thing just makes it more unbelievable.   Stupid people who just want attention.

And another thing.... these rocket scientist wannabees are complete wack jobs.  Hubby works in the "real" space industry and runs across these crazies every once in a while. You just shake your head sometimes. 

They are obsessed with life beyond Earth and most believe THEY are the ones who will find the aliens and make contact with them and we'll all live happily ever after in one big happy universe.   Colorado is FULL of people like this.   Just in our area, there's a guy who has his own alien watch tower.  Another guy has a museum of sorts dedicated to alien life forms.

I love "South Park" because it hits so close to home on the whole alien obsession thing many people out here have.  I think we just lack oxygen and it's affected our brains!

Oh yea,  I also hope the FAA goes ape-shiit nuts on these morons for having an unauthorized and unlicensed flying vehicle.   I'm sure it caused problems at Denver airport for a while and disrupted flight patterns since it was probably in the traffic lanes.

Plus they reportedly scrambled a military helicopter to the area.  Slap 'em with a nice fat bill for that, too.

Apparently the dad and his partners are having some information published.  It's coming out like within the next couple of months I think they said.  Hmmm. Publicity stunt maybe???

ETA:  The information they had published was from a couple of years ago, it's not recent.

It did shut down things for a while at the airport.

Seriously, do they really think that balloon could have flown with the weight of the 6 year old in it? Plus where were any adults? Why weren't the kids in school and can you really trust another kid who said he saw the 6 year crawling into it. Lastly, who untied it?

And I'll bet anything these boys are home schooled.  Colorado is HUGE on home schooling and most nut-job families out here don't cotton to traditional ways of edumacatin' their young'uns.  We likes our indy-pendence!!    This was probably Daddy's version of science class!
