Hey everyone!
I've been going to Kennestone OB/GYN and planning on delivering at Kennestone. My mom wants me to change to a doctor that has privilages at Northside Hospital because its "the baby factory" and she had a poor experience with Kennestone--but not their labor & delivery. I've spoken with a few women who have delivered at Kennestone and they seemed satisfied with their experience but, I'm just going on the whole baby factory thing with Northside.
Advice? Stories?
Thanks
Re: Kennestone vs "the baby factory"
I think some women on here have delivered at Kennestone and had great experiences. I delivered at Northside and it was wonderful - and everyone I personally know who has delivered there agreed.
I think you can't go wrong with either hospital so I'd go with whichever is convenient for you location-wise and where your OB has privileges. Good luck!

I'm not sure, but I think they just re-did the rooms at Kennestone as part of the rennovation. Take a tour and let us know :-)
I didn't have the best experience at Kennestone, and I was really disappointed because I heard such great things. I love my dr's so it sucks that when I decide to have another child, I'll either have to suck it up and go back to Kennestone, or change dr's.
When I arrived I was in active labor, and they made me go to the waiting room because they were full. I mean I was in so much pain, how the hell do I sit in a waiting room. After 45 minutes my mom went to the nurses stand and b!tched about it. They finally got me into a triage room, and the 2 nurses in there were like dumb and dumber. Ugh, that was the worst. The actual delivery nurses were wonderful, loved them and the anesthesilogist, my after care nurses were okay, all but one, she was so unfriendly and unhappy.
Dr. McLendon of Kennestone OBGYN delivered Ava @ Kennestone and I thought he was wonderful. While it is important to like your doctor they are really only there for a brief time and to "catch" the baby (unless you are having a c-section). I think it is important to also like the nurses. I had a pretty good experience with the nursing staff. I think it is like any hospital there are really good nurses and some not so good nurses. When we got to our room the admitting nurse seemed annoyed to be taking care of me but the following nurses (especially my night nurse) were wonderful! All in all I am very pleased with my doctors and my decision to deliver at Kennestone. Good luck!
I worked at Kennestone for a few years and I have to say, the L&D and Mother/Baby nurses are so great. Most of them really love what they do and I wouldn't hesitate to have my baby there. Plus, the neonatologists are fantastic, but hopefully you won't need them!
The Women's Center was revamped maybe 5 or 6 years ago. I think the rooms are quite nice, but really, who notices the thread count of sheets when you're in labor or recovery?
I have more than my fair share of experience with Kennestone and I have nothing but wonderful things to say - both in and out of L&D.
Rupture Ectopic - 2004 (surgery and 7 day stay), Colin's knee surgery - 2005 (emergency surgery and stay), Birth of my son - 2006, Miscarriage with D/C - 2007 (outpatient), Birth of my daughter - 2007 (NICU stay for 7 days)
I have only had one nurse this entire time I had a problem with. Great experience. Do what is most convenient for you - you'll make the right decision
