I'm going to say no because i had a friend that had a reaction to it so bad that it left a scar in the shape if the fake tattoo. It's been years and it never cleared up.

I have never heard of anyone having such a bad reaction to henna before. I have done henna many times and never had a bad reaction. I looked it up, and black henna is not natural henna and has had bad side effects, like irishbaby described. Natural henna dye, which is usually red/cinnamon/brown color won't hurt someone who is pregnant. In some cultures, women celebrate pregnancy by getting henna tattoos. I bet it is safe, as long as your friend uses natural henna, not the black henna, which is apparently bad for anyone- pg or not. Here is a link- scroll down for the henna part:
