We had a call today

for a one year old girl-parental rights are being terminated next month.  We told our worker yes and she said she'd call the county worker to let them know.  We were so excited and was doing the happy dance.  After waiting for a long time 1 hour 30 min and not hearing anything I called our worker.  She said she hadn't heard anything back.  At the two hour mark we got a call that they found another home.  *sigh*  I guess the good part is that we're getting calls.

oh no! can you tell your worker that she can say yes to something that fits under your "umbrella" (ie age, gender, race, "issues")? we've done that and it makes it so much easier. they accept for you, but typically they'll still call to double check after they've accepted.

I'm so sorry that didn't work out for you.  I like the idea of a blanket "yes" for certain types of situations.  Would that work for you?

They won't do a blanket "yes" for certain situations.  Even if she would have said yes, they would have gone with the other foster home since it was a county foster home and we are a foster to adopt home through a placement agency(basically county foster home is cheaper..it doesn't matter about what is best match for the child).
