Does anyone remember who had an ovarian cyst surgery

at 19 weeks?  My friend is facing this and I can't remember who this person was.  TIA.

Re: Does anyone remember who had an ovarian cyst surgery

  • I don't remember, but I had a doctor try to operate on me for that. It turned out that we chose to get a second opinion. The 2nd doctor deferred to 3 different maternal fetal specialists, who decided to wait. This was the best decision we ever made. The first doctor was ridiculously hasty and if we had let him do the procedure he wanted to do (laparoscopy), he would not have even been able to remove my cyst because it had solid portions. I don't know your friend's situation, but cysts during pregnancy are very common and usually it is usually totally unnecessary to take them out. Feel free to PM me if you have more questions about my experience. I feel very very strongly that it is important to have a doctor examine it thoroughly and my first doctor did not do that at all.

  • It wasn't me, but I have PCOS and get cysts a lot.  I had a couple fairly large ones when I was pg.  But they were never operated on.  They never even mentioned it but I would have had a second or third opinion if they did to try NOT to..

I'm sorry your friend is going through this :(
