  • You all know that Chi-Chi's commercial with the robot? My mom and DH made it says 'I want epidurual'... The room literally broke into laughter.

  • Our first overnight nurse was an alumni from Ohio State.  My DH, had changed his shirt in the middle of her shift and had put on his favorite Michigan shirt.  She went from making us both laugh at everything to giving my DH a really hard time about being a Michigan fan.

That same nurse had told me, at one point, after checking me that she would be back in an hour.  An hour and a half rolled around, I was in pain and said, "where is that damn nurse!" right as she opened the door to hear me say it.  She laughed and apologized for being late.

  • I actually went to the hospital twice the day DS was born, they sent me home the first time after four hours for not progressing fast enough.  When we went back and the nurse checked me and told me I was at a 7 I said "you gotta be sh!tting me" because that meant I'd progressed 5 cms in 2 hours.  Everyone thought that was hilarious except for me, because I was the one laying on the table hurting!
  • The doc had DH count to 10 while I was pushing, and DH kept missing the number 4!  On the 3rd time, the nurse and I started laughing, and the doc said forget it, and just told me to push for as long as I could!  (I continued to count in my head).
  • I accidentally slapped a nurse. She was trying to help me into a sitting position for the spinal for the c/s. She had one arm but not the other, I lost my balance and started falling backward and slapped her trying to get myself back up. And I kept apologizing, I felt so bad.
  • The nurse went to call the Dr. to say I was ready to start pushing.  Before I kicked my mom out of the room, I asked her for the brush out of my bag.  I wanted desperately brush my hair before I started pushing (looking back I have no idea why I wanted to).  Apparently, I told them I felt nasty and wanted to feel better before it got worse.  DH and my mom thought it was hilarious, and took a picture of me brushing my hair to show DD when she is older.

  • My induction was pretty smooth, quick, and easy.  I did get complimented by the nurse on my "grooming" and my cute freshly painted toenails.  However, when I was pushing, the nurse said to me, "You might have a hemorroid after this" and I looked at my hubby like, that is sooo not what I want to hear right now (as it was my worst fear about delivery) but I really didn't give it much thought at that moment but we laugh about it now since I never even got a hemmorroid...lol
