Do you use undershirts under onesies?

Now that its getting colder, do you use undershirts under clothing, or do you just bundle up with blankets for going outside and sleepsacks for sleeping? Just wondering if I should pick up some undershirts, I just found the Gerber ones are so hard to snap!

TIA

Re: Do you use undershirts under onesies?

  • No, we don't use undershirts.  We love the sleepers that zip with feet and we bundle up with blankets and a hat for going outside.

  •  I will typically only put a onesie under a sweater or something, not if she's just wearing a romper or something.
  • No. I dress DD in socks and warm/fuzzy sleepers if we are lounging around the house. When we are out and about I have a cover over the carseat to protect her from the cold.
  • It depends on where we're going.  I typically do in our house, because its older and the heat isn't up very high.  And if we're going to certain restaurants that STILL have their AC on.  Or if we're staying outside for a football game or something.

But for daycare, going to walmart, etc, no.  Just blankets.  My guy loves to be swaddled and blanketed, so its no biggie to do that to him to keep him warm.

  • Maybe it's just me but a onsie is what you call an "undershirt" and what you call a "onesie" is a romper. In that case yes I put an undershirt on Sylvia and then put a romper over that because where I live it is beginning to snow.
  • I put one of the Gerber onesies on under most of his outfits-- he is so sqirmy that his shirts always ride up and I don't want his belly to get cold! I generally put one under his sleepers and use one of the cotton swaddleme's for bed (it's been in the 30's-40's at night the past few nights)
  • DD usually has a onesie on under her shirts so that if her shirt rides up, her back isn't exposed.  She sleeps in a onesie and a sleep sack (or a warm sleeper w/o the onesie).  I don't put an undershirt under the onesie- the onesie IS the undershirt.

  • We live in the northern plains, like by Minnesota, and I put a onesie on my son regardless of what he's going to be wearing for the day, and I have him wear one at night under his zip up pajamas. Since it's been in the 20s in the morning when I take him to daycare, I'd rather he have an extra layer on, and besides what he's dressed in, I put a blanket over him and a carrier cover over the car set just to make sure he stays as warm as possible.
