So at preschool drop off, for whatever reason, a lot of the mom's are very clique-ish and I am NOT a part of their group....anyways, one of the mom's said something about her son in Kindy so I mentioned how I have a DD in kindy as well...we start chatting and out of NO WHERE she starts spouting off about how she doesnt' trust anyone and how she hates how it seems like everyone just wants something from her and because of her husband's career its made her really slow to trust people. 

So I'm thinking her husband is a cop? FBI? I don't know...it was such a random and out of the blue tangent...it had nothing to do with our kids being in kindy and I didn't know what to say.

So naturally I asked what her husband does....which I think she wanted me to do so she could brag about it???

"he's an orthodontist. So people assume we have a lot of money, but we are down to earth people and not about keeping up with the Joneses."

ohhh kahhhh....weird.  So my foot in my mouth response...

"yeah, well, in a tough economy, dental care is the first thing people give up so I wouldn't assume you have a lot of money!"

heh...mmm...silence.

but still....what a weird conversation to have anyways!

Oh my.  I probably would've laughed when she said orthodontist.  Maybe people think they'll get free braces for their kids if they befriend them?

and the only reason that response was in my head is because my BIL is a dentist and in the Navy and he doesn't want to leave the Navy until the economy picks up and my sister and I had a huge conversation about that last weekend so it was fresh in my head...how he will start a practice when the economy gets a little better...but until then the Navy is steady good money.
