Pregnant after a Loss

Would you

Have an early u/s at 6weeks if your OB offered it?

Or is that too soon?

  • I had 3 early u/s's...5, 6, and 7 wks. I think if you choose to do an early u/s, you just have to know going in what you will prob see.

  • Mine made me wait until 8 weeks, but I totally would have gone earlier if I was offered it.

  • I did mine at 7 weeks and was glad to have waited until I KNEW there should have been a heartbeat (and there was one).  At six weeks I would have freaked for the week wait to come back and check if the heart wasn't beating yet.

  • I was offered an early u/s if I wanted it.  I decided to wait until 7 weeks 5 days.  I wanted to give the LO more time to develop and not worry that we looked too early if the heart was not beating or any other issue.  Good luck.

  • Yep! I had an u/s at 6w1d and saw the hb, its was amazing.
  • Yes, and I did also.  And we got to see a little heart beating :)  Good luck to you!!

  • Yes I would. Last pregnancy I had a u/s at 6w2d and saw the heartbeat flickering. This time I will also be having a u/s at 6w2d and am hoping for the same outcome!

  • Yes and had many with the RE!

  • Yes I did at 6w2d. The OB wanted to "date" the pregnancy even though I could have done it for him Smile We got to see/hear the HB and it did help me feel pretty good to see it was "real".

  • I had 2 before 8 weeks because I had spotting and it was reassuring in some ways but I didn't feel confident until after the point that they had identified my miscarriage as a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks. I don't think it would be a bad thing to have the early ultrasound though.

  • I did!  I had one at 6,7,10 and 18 weeks!  Of course, the first two we didn't here the heartbeat, but we saw it flickering away!  Having those early on was so comforting!  GL!

  • I had my first u/s at exactly 6 wks and I could see the HB!! I was so excited !

    ooh good luck !!!

  • We waited til 8 weeks and I was kinda glad since I knew by then there would be or wouldn't be a heartbeat - like PP's said just know going in at 6 weeks that there may/may not be a heartbeat yet but it could develop after and you will be golden! I think if my OB offered a 6 week I would have said yes just to get a sneak peek, but we didnt get the option!

  • Yes- that was when I had my first, and we got to see the HB. It was a huge relief.
  • absolutely, and I did.  I loved seeing the heartbeat.  I also had another one at 9 weeks and then again at 12.

  • I did- I had one at just under 5 wks after having cramping for five days. I didn't care that I wasn't going to see a h/b- I was just relieved to see a sac. I knew it would just be taking it one step at a time.

  • I did at 6w2d and was glad I did.  My doc also was very kind and said I could come in every week if I really wanted.  I have declined so far b/c going to the doc for me is very stressful...but maybe your doc will offer something similar? GL!

  • As you know, I would not get an u/s at 6 wks. I think it doesn't help calm the mind, it still leaves you wondering if things are going to be ok.

Just saw your other post, so glad that your OB is wonderful enough to go back to the office to check for you.

  • I think I'd do it again as long as I was sure I was at last 6 weeks.

We didn't see a HB at 5 weeks/6 days but saw one a week later, the earliest they wanted us back.   After 2 m/c, that was one rough week of spotting and worrying.

  • I would and did!  We saw his hb at 6w1d....you never know what cool stuff you might see : )
  • You might see something... my 1st with the RE was at 5 weeks 3 days and only the sacs were visible... a week later the hb could be seen....

Ditto!! We had one at 7 weeks and then again at 9 and 12 weeks.

  • I would wait until 7 weeks.  6 weeks may be fine but to avoid any anxiety I would wait....just my opinion though.
