Anyone have a Bugaboo?

I figured after the income poll last week, this would be a good board to ask Big Smile  I think we are buying a Cam this weekend...just looking for reviews and experiences...(I want you to tell me how much you love yours!)  I test drove one last weekend and LOVED it, but the price is hard to swallow!

Thanks!

Re: Anyone have a Bugaboo?

  • Everyone in my neighborhood has a Bugaboo- the Chameleon more than the Frog.  I'm one of the few that "rebelled".  LOL.  There are a lot of great things about the Bugaboo but no one could tell me why it was better than some of the other brands that had the same great features (the wheels, the bassinet vs. seat, etc).

I ended up buying the Uppa Baby Vista.  It's about $150 less than the Bugaboo and it has some things I love more than the Bugaboo.  Both can switch from bassinet to seat but the Uppa Baby folds with the seat still attached.  The bugaboo breaks down into 3 pieces.  Every time my friend and I would go shopping, I folded mine in one fast swoop and she had to take hers apart- which took a lot longer.

Another thing about the Uppa Baby vs. the bugaboo is the basket/storage underneath.  The bugaboo is awful in size.  The Uppa Baby was awesome - it's huge!  That was important to me because I live in a city where I do a lot of walking and it made it easier for grocery shopping.

The last thing is minor but the bugaboo has a bar going across the back which you can easily kick when you walk.  The Uppa Baby doesn't have the bar across the back so when you walk (if you're tall or dh uses it), no one kicks the stroller as you walk.

You won't go wrong if you get the bugaboo- it is a really good stroller.   Like I said earlier, EVERYONE in my neighborhood has it and they last a long time and if you ever want to sell it, you will be able to get some real money back for it.  But if it's just how the stroller handled, there are several brands that have those wheels and are similar in their ability to push easily.

Good luck with whichever stroller you get!

  • I looked at both and liked the Uppa Baby Vista better. My friend has the Uppa Baby and also loves it. I couldn't swallow the price, so I ended up with the Bumbleride Flyer - I love my stroller!
  • We bought the Peg Skate instead.

  • We have a Cameleon and a Bee (bee is our travel stroller).  I love it...but I am not someone that got WAY into strollers...I was looking for a really functional practical stroller and this fit the bill.  We live in the city (NYC) so walk constantly and don't have to take ours apart which is why it works...I wouldn't get a bugaboo cameleon if I lived in the 'burbs and used a car a lot...just wouldn't make sense to me.

  • I looked at a bunch of strollers, including the Bugaboo, but I really liked the Quinny Buzz. I found it easier to fold up than the Bugaboo and it rides very smoothly.
  • I have the cham bugaboo and love it. I looked at the strollers mentioned by the PP but ended up with the cham. I'm in the car a lot and admit taking it apart constantly isn't ideal. But even when I use the MacLaren umbrella stroller it's still a pain.

The main reasons I love the Bug: Incredibly smooth ride, comfy seat, & it doesn't tip over. For DH's first year we could put him to sleep in either the bassinet or lay the chair back and go to dinner. It was awesome when we were on vacation. He'd just sleep through everything.

I also love that I can change out the fabric inexpensively. I have green felt in the winter and a canvas for summer. If I have a girl next I can switch colors again.

  • We looked at the Bugaboo and were not impressed with the way it folds up or its storage.  We live in an urban area but we still drive often so not having an easy folding stroller was not an option.  We went with the Orbit instead.  There are things I love about it and things that I don't think are so great.
  • We have a bugaboo and I LOVE it.  For us, it is worth every penny.  Living in the city, we use it everyday.  It is definetly ideal for those living in an urban area.  It rides very smoothly and is easy to navigate.  The only drawback is when traveling the bugaboo has to be broken up into two pieces. I have also heard positive reviews about Phil and Ted's.

  • Thanks for all the responses!  I have been spoiled by using a reversible stroller the last 6 months, but the one I have is really heavy and bulky, and I need something that will glide right over cobblestones.  I like the idea of switching fabrics on the Cam.  We took the Bee for a test drive and it was "ok", then took the Cam out and it was like a whole new world!  It was amazing!  We pushed it over cobblestones and DH was totally sold on it.

The Uppababy is also on my short list, because of the flexible cupholder and the HUGE basket.  I didn't know that it was a one-piece fold, if the seat is reversed, can it still be folded down, or does the seat need to be forward facing?

I will make sure and push both around again on Friday, before I buy!
