Babies: 9 - 12 Months

How do people live without a dishwasher?

I'm on Day 3 without mine and I feel like I'm on Little House on the Prairie or something. Our new one gets delivered tomorrow, thank god! It wouldn't have been so bad before DD, but having to wash all her bottles, sippy cups, spoons, dishes, etc. is such a PITA!

  • Ugh, I don't have a dishwasher. Sad And I hate washing dishes. Hope your new one comes soon!

  • LOL  I wonder the same thing!  And we didn't have a dishwasher until we moved when Lil was 5 1/2 months old!  You get used to it but its so SO much easier with one now!

  • Before DS we lived in an apartment with no dishwasher. It was a killer! I don't know how I'd do it with a baby around.

Yay for getting it soon though!

  • LOL, my parents still dont have a dishwasher.  I hated it when I lived at home cuz dishes were my chore!

  • I usually don't use it. Maybe once a month if even that. I just do the dishes myself. Now with DS I do use it more but no more than 2-3 a month lol

  • I'm spoiled, I've always had a dishwasher - but in this apartment, EVERYTHING is old, so it's a matter of time before it goes out, I'm sure... it makes knocking noises from time to time, just like the fridge.

I figure, if we've just got too many dishes to hand wash, I'll just throw them into the bathtub with dishsoap and wash 'em all at once. Our sink is teeny.

    I kid, I kid.

That's crazy! I run mine once a day! I guess I just really hate doing dishes.

  • I would use all paper....if I had no dishwasher.  I despise washing dishes.
  • We don't have one. We used to, but we moved when DS was 4 mo. old and now we don't. It stinks. I feel like I am continually washing dishes.
  • I have a dishwasher but I still handwash dishes twice a day.  All of the bottles, sippy cups, dishes and so on for the kids gets washed by hand.  I only have five bottles total and a few cups, dishes etc.

I can tell you I wear gloves to wash dishes.

promised myself I'd retire when I turned gold, and yet here I am
  • I was fine without one, that is, until we went on vacation and got a condo that had one.  Now washing dishes is so lame.  It was so nice to just rinse everything and throw it in there and listen to it clean everything so nicely while I lounged around.  I would really appreciate it now for bottles, since the vents and nipples are such a pain to scrub out every night.
