One of our radio DJs this morning mentioned his kids names, and one was Amia (Uh-MEE-uh) and I thought it was so pretty. I'm just guessing on the spelling, though. Different, but not too far out there. I'm not a big fan of just Mia, but I like Amia.
What do you think?
Re: What about the name Amia?
Not familiar with Amia, or the Amya spelling either.
Amaya is very pretty and so is Amalia.

I don't take one single minute for granted.
I think people would always be pronouncing it like "Amy-uh." I do really like Amaya though.
NMS.
I like Amy and Amya... but Amia is odd.
I have a friend named this. It's a Hebrew name. Her mom is Israeli. Spells it just like you have above.
I think it's pretty, but everytime she introduces herself, people think her name is Mia. ("I'm Amia" runs together.)
