IUI #2 negative. Probably onto IVF

I"m sad- today was a very physically & emotionally draining day at work and the only thing that kept me going was waiting to listen to the voicemail from my RE when I got home.  (I waited to listen w/ my husband).  I was so hoping for some good news- but not so much.  Beta=negative for IUI#2.   

So I still don't know if it's too early- I did 2 b2b IUIs and today was 11dpiui (for the 2nd iui) and my beta today was negative.  I am on prometrium.  The nurse left a message saying it was negative & to stop the prometrium.  But one little crazy hopeful annoying part of my mind thinks- maybe it's too early to tell- maybe I am pregnant and shouldnt stop prometrium.  Maybe I should wait for 14 dpiui?  Is it too early to tell?  I havent started AF yet.  I ws thinking of calling my RE tomorrow and asking if we should retest in 3 days.   Or am I being foolishly hopeless?

So since we're all OOP we'll probably just go to IVF since that has the best chances of working.  But we need to take a break & save, and decide where to go.   I'm thinking of switching clinics b/c other clinics have higher success rates w/ IVF.   And this clinics attained risk program only covers through 12 wks of pregnancy-  which I don't think is a big enough guarantee- so I'd like to find another clinic that defines success as a live birth.    

I gotta say though, it'll be kind of nice to take a break from treatments for a bit.

So sorry about your negative. I can understand holding out for any hope... Why not continue the prometruim for a few more days? You can at least test at home in a few more days.

Good luck with your decision to move forward with IVF. I hope it ends up successful. I hope you can find a great clinic you like... and I agree- I would want live birth- not 12 weeks.

I'm sorry. BFNs suck. My RE always did betas at 10DPO. Once they were wrong, but that ended in m/c. After that I always held out hope, but no luck after that for me.

i'm sorry....we are also thinking of doing the shared risk...the person i talked to said they define live birth as leaving the hospital with a baby - we need to get the contract, but i wouldn't pay upfront so much for anything less than that guarantee...esp since we already had a late loss

I hope it is okay to reply.  I am so sorry you are going through this.  Go with your gut.  If you think you want to wait a bit longer, then don't feel like you can't/shouldn't.  Do know that prometrium can hold off AF as mine did for both of my IUI's and only came after I was off of it for a few days.  GL to you and I agree that break cycles can be very good.
