Taking a baby in the stroller, on the escalator is not safe...

In my opinion. I see women do this all the time at the mall, and if scares the *** out of me...I even once saw a woman almost drop the stroller on one....

just take the elevator....please.

  • YES, for real.  So scary.

  • Definitely not safe.

Aren't there signs on the escalators that have the little stick figure with a stroller and big red X over them?  Drives me crazy when I see people do this.  Elevators ... they're your friend.

  • It terrifies me.

  • I agree!

Although, I am responding because this post reminded me of the movie Mallrats, anyone else?

  • I have taken the stroller down the escalator. But did not have my son in it. When we were on the second floor of the mall the elevator broke down (and yes they have freight elevators but wouldn't allow me to use one. So my SIL who was with me carried my son down the escalator and I held the stroller. After just doing it with the stroller I can attest to how out of control it feels! I would NEVER do that with my child in the stroller!

This is different, though.  At least you had him out of the stroller.  :)

  • there are like 42 signs when approaching the escalator here that strollers are prohibited on the escalator

hahaha My thoughts exactly!!  All I wanted to write in response was "That kid is back on the escalator again!!!"  lol

  • I just saw that the other day and thought, Wow, people do that?
  • I've done it going up, but never down.  Going up, you can stand behind the stroller and anchor it.  Down is too scary for me.

This is a bad idea. I was going down an escalator at the airport and a zipper got stuck on the bottom off-ramp area. This happend so fast and jammed the whole escalotor.

If this were a stroller going up or down and you had a string or strap hanging down it would suck the strap in, fling the stroller forward and try to catapult your baby out of the stroller. If he were firmly strapped in the first thing to hit the floor could be his head.

The only thing that will jamb up an escalator is a metal piece or a limb or finger of your baby (I doubt if even that would stop it) Don't f with escalators. PERIOD.
