Is anyone else afraid to get the swine flu vaccine? I'm just worried because I don't think it's been studied long enough for long term effects on the baby. My mom tells me not to get it, hubby tells me I should. Any thoughts?

Re: Swine Flu vaccine?
I am going to get it (so long as no negative side effects emerge between now and when it is actually available). The regular seasonal flu vaccine doesn't worry me - I had it the last time I was pg - and the H1N1 vaccine was formulated and made in the exact same way as the seasonal vaccine.
You can probably find more info online (either for getting it or for avoiding it) and you should also talk to your OB about any concerns you have and to see what their recommendation is.

I will not be getting it. I do not trust a vaccine pushed through the system that quickly. There are also questions about the accuracy of the reported ingredients. I've heard some places that some versions of the vaccine may contain squalene.
I've heard a lot about the properties of elderberry and something about it's effect on the immune system in regards to binding to the H1N1 molecules, rendering it harmless. We'll be looking into some recipes for this...as well as more naturopathic options for H1N1.
I'm interested to hear different opinions on this. It was pushed through very quickly and the clinicals done on pregnant women won't show the effect on the fetus in 5-10 years. Just curious, did you get the flu shot?

Can you pass along any recipes you find for this?

I did not get a flu shot yet. I was going to, but I will only get the thimerisol free one, as I am still nursing Kennedy. Work decided that was not a good enough excuse this season, and refused to let me have that one. So, until I talk to a higher up and they give it to me, or I see if I can still get it for free in a clinic that has it, I will not be.
They will be making thimerosal-free versions of the H1N1 vaccine, but my OB wasn't sure when those would be available (I want thim-free, too).
This site lists ingredients:

This CNN article states that there will be some that are thimerosal-free:

Sorry they're not clicky!

I got my thimerosol free flu shot at Multicare Assoc. in Blaine. They only had thimerosol-free shots. I'd call around to clinics or go to this one in Blaine if it is convenient for you.

Do you know where Zantigo's, KFC, Taco Bell, or Jack & Jill daycare is? The clinic is in a large office building on the west side of Central Ave. You can see it off of Central Ave but have to use the frontage road to get there.

I've seen a few providers at the clinic but haven't seen anyone that I loved. One of the NP was nice, but I can't remember her name. Do you have a pediatrician recommendation in Blaine or surrounding area? I'm looking for someone who is open to delayed vaccine schedules and pro-breastfeeding.
