I don?t even know where to start? we had an induction date on Wednesday, October 7th. The day before I woke up in so much pain from pressure. I could hardly walk and started having signs that labor was around the corner. Chris and I celebrated our 2nd anniversary and went to bed?.our last night with just the two of us. We got to the hospital at 5am on Wednesday morning. I can?t tell you how odd it was leaving our house knowing it was the last time it would ever be the 2 of us. We were all checked in and in our labor and delivery room by 6am. I was hooked up to pitocin by 6:30am and started feeling the contractions pretty fast. I started labor at a 2 and 80% effaced. My doctor came in at 7:30am and broke my water. I definitely was not ready for that but it wasn?t bad at all. Felt just like a regular internal exam with a little extra pressure and then a huge gush. (So thankful that it didn?t break while I was shopping!) Contractions started to get more intense and I did my best to hold out a bit for the epidural. After 2 hours I finally couldn?t take it anymore and ordered the epidural. It ended up being the worst experience of my life. The anesthesiologist wouldn?t let anyone except for he and the nurse to be in the room while he did it. My husband waited outside the door?.for an hour and 15 minutes! It took him 9 tries to get the epidural in. Yes, 9. I have never been more miserable in my life!! The contractions were so so painful and relief was not coming, only getting worse. I finally broke down on the 7th try and cried to my nurse to help?I didn?t think I was going to get through it. It was so hard trying to breath through the contractions and not move while he was trying to place it. Once it was placed, it was pretty much instant relief and the best thing ever. I am so glad that I hung in there. By the time I had the epi I was at a 4. I relaxed for a few hours pain free but was throwing up due to my severe heartburn. The doctor checked me a 2pm and I was at an 8. By this time the epidural was starting to wear off. I was feeling some major pressure. An hour later I was checked again because I was feeling the urge to push and I was finally at a 10, 100% effaced and 0 station. It was such an overwhelming feeling. I pushed with every contraction for 45 minutes and finally on the last push came our precious baby girl. Pushing was extremely intense. I thought I knew what I was in for but really had no clue. I had to have an episiotomy but only needed 2 stitches. Not bad! There are so many other details?I could go on and on. All in all it was a wonderful experience (minus the epi) and I?d do it again in a heartbeat. There is nothing more precious than meeting your little one for the first time that you?ve waited so long for. Kate is so precious. She weighed 6lbs 8 oz and was 19.5 inches long. Perfectly healthy and too precious for words. She is such a good baby. There is nothing better in the world than holding her in my arms and seeing my husband hold her. We are so blessed. I am so excited for you girls?.mommy hood is AMAZING!!!!! Tiring, overwhelming, painful but worth everything! Feel free to ask me anything! Hugs to all of you!
