Finally outed myself to family

I told my mom yesterday.  She has been wanting a grandchild for the past 10 years and has not been shy about letting me and everyone know.    She lives in LA, so I told her via webcam.  She was THRILLED!  I flashed the U/S pic on the IM screen -- she said "I see an ultrasound.... oh..... is that you?"  I said, "Mom, that's your grandbaby!"  And, she instantly smiled and yelled for my stepfather to come see the pic and starting singing, "I'm gonna be a grandma!"  She was so happy and couldn't stop smiling.  She is so funny -- she said "I am so happy for you!  Actually, I am so happy for ME!" and "Now, I have something to brag about!"  and "I'm going to call your Uncle Jim.  He's at grandma's house, and I will email him the picture so he can show grandma!"  She also said "I wish you told me 2 weeks ago on my birthday."  And, I said "I thought about it, mom, but we wanted to see the baby again and make sure the baby is okay, and I didn't think you could keep it a secret."  She's said "yeah, you're right -- I couldn't have kept it a secret!"

DH also told his family.  They are excited but didn't act nearly as excited as my mom b/c my baby will by my mom's first grandchild but the last and 8th grandchild in DH's family.  SIL was super excited.  She had a baby last year.  She gave me 10 PG books -- like I have time to read all of that!  And, she has offered to give me all her newborn toys and clothes.  Awesome!

Reading your post made me tear up!  I am very happy for you!  We have similar moms.  I can't wait to be able to tell her she will be a grandma.  I am her only hope, and I desperately want a baby and had planned to start last July.  But then I had to put it off until next summer.  She might be as sad about it as I am.

That's great! I remember when we were telling people and it was so much fun, especially the people who are just as excited as you are. Enjoy the attention!!!!!
