I so need to be on What Not to Wear....

I have NO fashion sense.  I have gained weight and REFUSE to buy new clothes until I loose weight.  I started that today.  I will loose it!  I have only been wearing 1 pair of jeans, (that look like crap) sweatpants and workout pants.  When it was warm I had 3 pairs of beigh(sp) capris and I rotated.  My dr. finally put me on medication to help with my fatigue, so I will actually feel like excercising.

Currently I wear tennies and the mammoth crocs.   So, what kind of shoes do you wear with jeans?  (keep in mind I have MS and trip over my own feet pretty easily)  I am going to start with shoes and work my way up.  TIA  sorry so long!

  • my problem is that the clothes out there are either for HS/College girls or for your grandmother.  There is nothing inbetween for us 30/40 somethings.

I do not have a body of 20 yr old anymore and thats ok but I dont wanna dress like my mother either.  Im a jeans & sneakers kinda girl but I really would like to find some cute tops & sweaters .

  • Oh god, don't wear crocs! If you want to be comfortable when wearing jeans or casual pants, buy yourself a cute pair of Puma's or something.

And I must point this out because it's a huge pet peeve: it's LOSE weight, not loose. Loose is what your pants will be when you LOSE weight. OK, I feel better.

  • Go with cute flats. If you want to stay in the Croc family, they have some flats that don't look so much like Crocs. And they are comfy. I don't know your budget, but REI is having a sale and some of their flats are on sale. Try styles like those from J-41.

Here's an example of Crocs that are much cuter:

I know you don't want to spend $$ on clothes now, but I would buy a few key pieces to get you through the weight loss. I'd buy a new pair of dark wash jeans and 2 patterned tops. Check TJ Maxx and Target- you could get all 3 pieces for less than $50. At least for me, when I feel good in what I wear, I project it and my overall being just feels better.

  • Try shopping in stores like Ann Taylor Loft, Eddie Bauer.  Their clothes are not teeny-bopperish.

I'm a sahm and refuse to look sloppy.  Looking good makes me feel good.

  • I sometimes feel that way too. Lately I have buying a few things and bought two pairs of shoes today. With jeans I wear ballet flats which I am loving and now that the warmer weather is here I'll wear boots. It's rare I wear sneakers with jeans unless I have a fleece jacket or something sport for a top.  I have to get some cute sneakers  - I was thinking about this today.  good luck - it sucks when you don't feel good about yourself.
