Cradle Mattress?

Does anyone now where I can get a good cradle mattress for relatively cheap? I was given a cradle by a friend and love it, but it only has an inch think pad in it. Is this enough, it seems like not enough support as it is a solid wood cradle. All I can find at BRU and Walmart are more pads.

TIA!

Re: Cradle Mattress?

  • My dad is making me a cradle, and I'm getting my mattress from ababy.com.

However, I think it's a pretty thin mattress, too, so you'll have to read up and decide.  You could always put in two mattresses, but honestly crib mattresses are pretty firm, so as long as the foam doesn't compress completely when pushed on (you know-- it should be sturdier, kind of like a couch cushion), then it should be fine.

Babies are only in cradles for a short while anyway when they don't weigh as much, so I wouldn't think it would be too think if it were a good quality foam.

BTW, ababy.com also has mattress pads and sheets for cradle mattresses, and they're fairly cheap.  If you search on amazon, this is the website that will come up as well.  GL!
