After being off the pill for six months I finally got my period on my own. My first round of provera did nothing. Second round brought on a light period. That was 34 days ago, and my body is finally doing it's thing! I am so thrilled. I feel like now we can finally start trying to try.

That's great! I'm still on the first round /first steps of provera. My OB gave me a 10 day prescription. He says after the 10 days I should get AF within 5-10 days. So let's see what happens...he also said if AF does show, I should wait and see if next month she comes on her own. So if that happens, my hubby and I can TTC. Otherwise, I might have to go back on Provera to keep on trying. I hope my process isn't as long.
Glad to hear you're ready to TTC. Hope I'm there soon!

That's great! How quickly did you take your second round of provera after the first? I took 7 days and only had the slightest amount of spotting ever. That was 30 days ago. I've been tracking bbt, so def no ovulation. Also, did your doc test for anything else to see why you went 6 months without af? I'm at the 5 month mark.
Thanks!
I'm still working on the first round. Tomorrow will be my 10th day on Provera. Let's see what happens in the next couple of days. Though I did start noticing some discharge. Is that a good sign? As for the bleeding. Once the m/c happened, I bled for a good 2 1/2 weeks; close to 3 weeks. This was back in July. So it's been 3 months with no period!

After going off the pill I went 3 months without AF and then went into the dr to find out what was going on. She did a blood test to see if it was my thyroid, and I came back normal. She told me that after being on the pill so long (11 years) it can take a while for your body to remember what to do.
She wrote me a prescription and I took 10 days of Provera and had some spotting 2 days after the last pill. I waited 35 days and when nothing happened I called the doctor. She told me to refill the provera, and if I didn't see results to come in for more tests. (she said I could have refilled it earlier though, and didn't need to wait the full month) On day 9 of the second round of Provera AF showed up and stayed for 4 days.
Before the pill I was regular, and my Dr. told me that was a great sign. It's still incredibly frustrating when your body won't cooperate.

Thanks for the extra info! I was regular before the pill too, though I switched pills in the middle to a low estrogen pill, and my periods slowly got lighter and lighter until they vanished (which ob/gyn said was normal). I have an u/s scheduled in a week and a half, but depending on what they see maybe I'll ask my doc to give provera a try again.
By the way, I just realized we're neighbors! We just moved here in June : ) Which doctor/group do you see? I'm active duty so I'm stuck dealing with National Naval Med Center in Bethesda and/or Walter Reed. However, my doctor is older and less informed on a lot of the recent research (which I'm conducting myself). I'm starting to feel limited with the military care, and might just have dh use his health insurance option so that I can go elsewhere... Very frustrating!
yay! welcome to the area. I love living here. If you want any advice from a local, restaurants, etc. I'd be happy to help.
That is definitely frustrating, choosing a doctor can be so overwhelming. I see Dr. Krinn at Capital Women's Care. They have offices in Bethesda and Shady Grove and I have been happy with them so far, the practice came recommended from several friends and I have been going there for 5 years.

Congrats! I just got AF too after my first round of a Provera generic, first period in six months after stopping birth control. I guess I'll start charting my temperature and waiting for ovulation (though I'm a little cloudy on the whole thing & need to do some more reading on how to do that). Any advice for a newb?
