At our homeschool co-op, we have to volunteer per hour that your child is there each week. I've been volunteering in the PE class, but they just emailed me to let me know they've switched my duty to the preschool class, where my kids are. Their teacher says they've been doing great (one day I walked by and heard shrieking with the kids running around and the teacher trying to round them up. I was sure my kids were leading it, but when I looked, they were actually sitting at the table listening!). Anyway, I'm afraid Ethan will just cling to me if I'm in there, and I like them to have the opportunity to be around other kids for an hour each week without me. I did let her know that in a reply email, but would you press the issue or just go with it?
Re: Would you want to volunteer in your kid's class each week?
if you are hs'ing isn't the point that you are with your kids?
eta: i know that's not the only point
I'm confused.... They are only in preschool for 1 hour/ week?
?
If they're there several days/hours week then I'd prefer the hour I'm there be in their classroom.?
Yes. In fact I was in Natalie's kindergarten class twice a week last year. We have a lot of parent participation and we do it in our own childs classroom. But to be honest Natalie is way too into her friends to bother clinging to me.
I volunteer in J's class at least 3 times a month. It is fine.
I haven't signed up for Gracie's class yet but I'll be in there as much as they want me. The kids get used to seeing mom at school pretty quickly.
