Well, I got the Colgate Classica III (foam), which is double sided, but the difference between the two sides is negligible. I would save your money and get the Classica I if you're thinking of a foam mattress.
I got one from a local baby store, I think it's a kolcraft maybe. It's two sided - one side is foam for newborn and very firm. The other is coil and softer for toddler bed. It was 150 at the local place.
I got a foam mattress at Ikea - $40, about 4 inches thick and it it is double sided but the firmer side seems reasonable to me. It's density measurement is 1.4 (range of .9 to 1.5).

Thinking about getting this one...it has a removable washable cover, which sounds like a good idea...
Re: Recommend your mattress!
Firm is actually better when it comes to babies.
The more coils the better also.
