glucose question

I am thinking about getting my one hour glucose done this morning/afternoon.  My question is... do you have to fast or not?  I have heard conflicting info.  This morning I had a 16 oz coffee and a half of a chocolate chip muffin.  Would that make a difference?

Ugh.

I think you'll be fine as long as you don't eat anything else. I had no clue they wanted me to take the test earlier this week when I went in - and I had done so after eating a fruit cup. I told the nurse this but she said it would be fine. Uh huh. I failed. Pretty miserably, too. So they gave me a "diet" to follow for three days prior to the 3-hour.  Why do I have to diet for the 3-hour, yet it was OK to eat FRUIT 5 mins before taking the 1hour?! Makes no sense to me but whatever. I'll survive.

I had to fast--- nothing to eat or drink after midnight (even water).  I passed no problem.  I would say wait until tomorrow to get it done and fast tonight.  Just go first thing in the morning (my appt was for 7am).  I heard the 3 hour one is a real PITA.

When I did the 1-hour test with DS, I was told to eat "sensibly" before - no sugar, juice or fruit. I had eggs and raisin bran for breakfast, then had the vile drink, and did really well on the test.

I would wait until tomorrow and avoid choc chip muffins beforehand. even tho they are sooo good and I now NEED one.

I am already thinking that my results are going to be compromised.  I am on a medication for my (supposed) UTI and it says under drug interactions, "This medication may interfere with certain laboratory tests (certain urine glucose tests) possibly causing false test results".  (Maybe not though, because it does say urine and not blood.)  

I'll go tomorrow morning.  It's just LabCorp, so I can go anytime I want since they don't take appointments.  Just SOON!  I am already almost 28 weeks.   

It's weird how I am putting things off because I can't make actual appointments.  Like my Rhogam shot.  That one is at the hospital where I will be delivering and there is no appointment needed.  I HAVE to go Monday.  I will be 28 weeks then and I am pretty sure it has to be done between 26 & 28 weeks.  What is my problem that I am waiting until the last minute?!?!

Hello, I hope you are feeling better!

I was told to not eat anything sweet prior to the test. I had an egg and piece of toast. I would probably do the test ealry in the morning as opposed to afternoon though. GL!

Thanks Leffe. I am feeling pretty good. No contractions since I have been home *knock wood*. I am taking it super easy until my appointment on Wednesday. I will ask my OB then what he thinks about me going back to work. Until then, I am mostly on the couch.
