Ok so i use Aveeno face wash that has like 2% of that sacrylic acid stuff and then i use proactiv for my blemishes that has like 1% of it and i was just wondering if i should completely stop these or is that amount not enought to do any harm??
Do you wash both of them off? Drs recommend avoiding salicylic acid for the same reason pg women aren't supposed to take advil/aleve etc (the active ingredient or whatnot is the same), but the obvious difference is that you don't ingest salicylic acid and doesn't stay on your skin long enough to be really absorbed.
It's one of those some people do and some people don't thing. Ask you OB, though.
My midwife said I can use Proactiv when I'm out of my first trimester, since the amount of absorbed through the skin is so minimal. I'll be that the amount in the aveeno is way less than proactiv, so you'd probably be okay now.

I asked my OB about Proactiv on Wednesday. My bottle states that it contains Benzol Peroxide, not Salicylic acid. Double check your bottles. I read online that Proactiv is made with SA in the UK and Benzol Peroxide in the US. She said as long as it doesn't contain salicylic acid that it is okay to use...just don't drink the stuff! I stopped using it when I got my BFP and prolly just won't use it anymore. I switched to an Oil of Olay gentle cleanser. I feel like crap so I really don't care if I have a few blemishes. Proactiv only worked some of the time for me anyways.
my midwife said as long as its an over the counter wash w/salicylic its ok since you rinse most of it off. she said no to a lotion you would leave on. but i think this is one of those things everyone differs on so just do what you feel comfortable with!
I used proactive before I was pregnant and when I got pregnant and used the cream it burnt my skin really bad. ?I stopped using it and only regular clean and clear face wash
