Pregnant after 35

My baby is going to have so many playmates

It seems like everyone we know is procreating. 2009 will result 6 babies born to 5 of our good friends,  and 1 new niece (3 of the 4 members of my bridal party have had/are having 2009 babies). Today I have found out that two more good friends are pregnant and will be having early 2010 babies.

None of these babies have mama's under 30 and most are over 35.

It's so exciting to have so many friends going through this around the same time. I'm I just noticing pregnant people more or is there really a baby boom?

  • That is really great!  We are the same way.  In the past year and in the upcoming year, we have six babies, including mine.  All the mamas are between 33 and 42.

We are in the same boat. I have 2 close friends who are pg also. They are both 35!

  • I definitely see it.. when I went to my cousin's shower.. of the 50 people there.. there were 8 pregnant ladies!  I have 2 cousins who had babies in August and Sept, one cousin's wife had one in Sept, good family friend (like a cousin) due November, I'm due December and another cousin's wife due January.  That's 6 babies for our generation.  Nothing like a big Irish Catholic family!  All of us are in our 30s.. two of us were late 30s.

AND.. at my school where I teach, I'm due Dec, the PT person due March, one teacher due April with identical twins, and another due a week later.

Yes, I think it is a baby boom.. and am excited my LO will have lots of friends/cousins to play with.. (well, so far, they're all boys!!!)

  • Sounds about right to me as well.  Tons of peple I know who are 35+ are babyin' up right now or have had a kid in the last year.

My OB thinks it's the Obama factor.  People were happy for the change in leadership so they, well, celebrated.  She's been delivering babies left and right for the past two months!

I know. It's weird for me too. That's why I just cut and pasted my siggy exactly as it was. My old screen name just made it too easy to cross over into real life.

  • I'm glad you posted this because i thought it was just me...i see pregnant women everywhere and it seems as though most of them are due this winter. A friend of mine is due 4 weeks before me...
  • I'm seeing it too. Two other women in my book club (which only has about 10 members) are pg now, and a good friend thinks she might be as well.. All over 35!
