Stuffy nose remidies??

DD has a stuffy nose Sad I've been trying to use the aspirator to suction it out but she hates that.  This morning I took a really hot shower and kept her in the bathroom to try and use the steam.  It makes me nervous when she's sleep b/c it sounds so awful!

Is 4 months too early for Vicks Vapor rub???

  • dr told me to put it on his feet because its so close to him if you put it on his chest. it worked.

  • Sounds good, also just went to their website and saw there's a 'Babyrub' for 3m+.  Think I'll go to Walgreens after DD wakes up from nap
  • I was going to mention the hot shower steam but you already tried that. Just make sure to suction her nose in the steamy bathroom.  Also try a humidifier to moisten the room so it's easier for her to breathe. Not sure about the vicks vapo rub but you can always take her a bath and use the johnsons soothing vapor bath. GL!
  • VapoRub on their feet, steamy shower, humidifier 24/7 and a booger sucker.
  • Use the saline spray and then the bulb - it will help to losen the gunk up and then the bulb won't hurt LO's nose as bad!

  • I EP so all LO has is breastmilk but she has still been sick twice already. The saline and then suck out with the aspirator works best. We propped her mattress up at the head of the bed also. I used the Vicks babyrub but my pharmacist DH said to be careful because it can cause respiratory difficulty in babies so only to use a little bit, do NOT overdo it whatver you do. Good luck!

Ditto this.  Only use the aspirator twice a day -- otherwise you can inflame the nasal passages and make it worse.  But use the saline drops throughout the day to help keep the congestion loose and moving.  Use a humidifier around her and keep doing the steamy shower and bath thing.  Elevate one end of the crib mattress so her head is elevated and try and keep her propped up more during the day (sleeping in the swing or car seat under supervision).  If really bad post nasal drip, a little warm water to help thin the secretions.
