I seriously just don't get people

I have a cousin who is 10 weeks pregnant with her 6th child. She's very granola. She has had all her kids at home and doesn't beleive in u/s at all. That's her decision. However, she's been bleeding for the past week and is refusing to see a Dr. for an u/s and her doula and midwife have her on bedrest and they are just waiting to see what happens now.

I just don't get it.

Exactly! My sister is an u/s tech and tried telling her that it's just sound waves, but she won't listen.

  • Wow, I don't understand why she wouldn't want to find out if everything is ok.  I wouldn't be able to just sit around on bedrest if I was bleeding.  Especially for a week.

  • Just trying to play devil's advocate here, but if she is in fact having a miscarriage, there is nothing that can be done to stop it. I just hope that she has the sense if she starts having any serious symptoms that she will get checked out.

    that's what I was thinking.

  • I don't get what's to get. At 10 weeks, there is nothing they can do for you if you're bleeding or miscarrying. If she was 30 weeks and bleeding for a week, I would think differently, But at 10 weeks? If you wouldn't get a D&C and can live not knowing, there's no reason to go.

this too. I am always reluctant to head to the hospital for things.
