there are a ton of early 20s on 2nd and 3rd tri and that skeeves me out because in all actuality, I'm old enough to be THEIR mom and here I am pg with my first!
LOL. Someone did a "clicky poll" on age a few weeks back and I think the ave. was around 24 (?). Sometimes I'll read a comment and just wonder -then I will see that she's 19 and well it makes sense. Honestly I couldn't imagine being pregnant in my 20's as it's all so overwhelming now!
Did I mention how much I love the sanity over here?
My oldest is 19 and a couple of women on the 3rd tri board are 19. It hard not to want to give motherly advice. I do thank the lord that my 19 year is not on here anywhere. The maturity level here is so wonderful over here.

It's so weird. When I was in my early 20's and even now no one in my social circle had babies when they were that young, and DH and I have gone to parties where we were the youngest expecting couple there. So to me early 20's is odd and 30's and 40's is completely normal.

I ditto what everyone else has said, esp. kdbennett about the older body! LOL! I loved my 20-something year old body, too! It is hard for me to relate to many of the women on 1st tri -- they have issues with their DHs and other baby daddies, OBs, friends, coworkers, bosses, etc. that I don't have. I love this board! I wish that it was more active, but then again, we will all have to start coming up with more drama and issues!
Ditto what everyone else said. It's partly a generational thing - Gen X (which starts in 1963 so I think we're all gen X-ers) has kids later in life, Gen Y has them earlier. for the first time in history, 2 generations are having kids at the same time (well, as a pattern, this doesn't include those incidents when large families had aunts and uncles who were younger than the next generation..).
And if course there's a geographical component. I loved my NYC OB where, at 35, I was a young first-time mom. Up here, I'm usually closest in age to the moms of the pregnant teenagers in the OB's waiting room...

I feel the same way - I just can't relate to a lot of the drama on the tri boards. It's fun to read sometimes, but I either never experienced it, or it was so long ago that I'm beyond it, so there's not that much to say. I like it here where it's calm and pleasant and supportive. I'm so glad I'm pregnant now...and never was back in my 20's. I always thought I wanted to have kids young, but now I'm so glad I waited! I feel so much more settled and secure and mentally ready.

Those boards are also drama filled! Whew it makes me tired. LOL.
This is a great place to be!!

I just turned 40 also. I wouldn't turn back the clock for nothin'! I look at the person I was in my 20's and who I am now - BIG difference.
I had no confidence at that age and was miserable and had a killer body...LOL
Now, I have confidence. I'm happy and have a, well, 40 year old body.
I cannot relate to those boards most of the time. That is why I love it here!
I agree. Yikes.
I also never knew anyone having their kids at 22, 25, etc. Maybe it's a geographical thing because that's not so common here in the northeast.
Heck, most of my friends STILL don't (and likely won't) have kids!

I feel old on THIS board. I turned 44 last month. I may start lobbying for an over 40 board since there is a really big diffence between 35 and 44.
