DH and I decided, after talking to the genetic counselor on Tues, that we will skip the NT screen and go straight for the CVS. The counselor told us that the NT screen looks at only 75% of chromosomal abnormalities, while the CVS looks for the other 25%, too. My aunt had a baby with Down's, so I have some family history. The risk of m/c with our doc is very low -- he was the first to offer CVS in the state and does a ton of them. Apparently, we can also find out the gender of our baby! I am nervous, excited, nervous, excited, etc.
Re: CVS tomorrow morning
hi! I did exactly what you did...skipped the other tests and went straight to the CVS. (I was 35 when I got pg--delivered at 36) I had some pretty good cramping after the procedure but by the next day all was well. just after your procedure -- REST---lay down, put your feet up. see if DH can take the whole day off to stay with you and "wait" on you!
fwiw--if I get pg again, I would not hesitate to have another CVS. It's nice to have the peace of mind and not worry for no reason and to be able to enjoy your pg.
good luck.
