Pregnant after a Loss

NE1 have an anxiety attack while pg?

This morning I had some palpatations/my heart was racing. It lasted for about 7-10 minutes. I was ok most of the day, but now I realize, I feel like my heart is still beating faster and I feel like I can't quite catch my breath. I had something similar happen when I was pg with dd, and was sent to the ER. I'm thinking of calling my OB tomorrow if I still don't feel right, but has this ever happened to anyone? What did your doc do for you?

Re: NE1 have an anxiety attack while pg?

  • I've been getting panic attacks nearly every day.  I see a therapist/psychiatrist who specializes in pregnancy and post partum.

They want to give me a medication that I don't feel comfortable with, so now they are discussing inducing me.

I definitely recommend seeing someone who specializes in mental health and pregnancy.  They understand so much better.

Hang in there... it's so tough.

  • I could totally be off here since I've never had a panic attack, but from what I understand what you had doesn't sound like a panic attack. Maybe ask lucky. But I thought a panic attack was more like 'feeling you were going to die' type of thing. I'm concerned that maybe there is something medical. I have no idea though, just my two cents. GL.
  • I used to struggle daily with anxiety and I, too, refused to take medication for it.  I went to a therapist a few years back and she gave me some calming methods that actually worked for me. (PM me if you'd like to try them)

As far as the end of this pregnancy goes, I have had a little anxiety, not neccessarily panic attacks but a few heart races here and there and IMO you need to find a place where you can relax and calm yourself down.  Most anxiety comes from your own mind so take a minute to assess your situation.

You have lot on your mind I'm sure so try some calming techniques - they really do work.

I'll be thinking about you - anxiety sucks but you can beat it.

I think you might be right. I'm not stressed or anxious about anything. It was more like my heart just started racing and I couldn't stop it. Finally it did on its own, but then I felt "off" last night. I also have a very small heart murmur, it probably is more of a medical issue than psychological.

I'm feeling much better today though! I'll mention it to my doc, but I don't think it's worth a call today. Thanks girls!
