I'm going to sound like a total nerd but I left my kids for an overnight- about 32 hours total and was a WRECK the first couple hours and never really was 'myself.'
I'm fine leaving the older ones. ?It's the baby (16 months) that I have trouble with. ?The older ones understand I'm coming back. ?
I'm getting ready to leave them for 9 days/nights (and going thousands of miles away). ?I'm afraid I'm going to be a mess and I'd love some tips on what has worked for you in regards to staying calm, etc..
Oh and in my defense, I think a lot of it has to do with pregnancy hormones.?
Re: Help me with separation anxiety....
The longest I've left my youngest is 4 days, and really it was just two full days of not seeing her, when she was 23 months so I can't really say personally, but I do think that longer trips are a little better. You miss them a lot at first, but then you get into the routine of your trip and it doesn't seem so obvious that they aren't there with you.
Good luck and have fun!
