So far she and my dad have sent 2 baby care packages to us: one with random gadgets and baby stuff (eg, spoons, a teething rattle), and one with the most adorable gender-neutral clothes she found at a department store.
She's doing fall cleaning at home and has so far found a pillowcase my grandmother embroidered that she wants to frame for the nursery, a blanket someone crocheted for me when I was little, and a couple of child-related things. She's packing them up to bring when they come visit this month.
AND she said she's still reading her copy of Adoption for Dummies.
I'm so proud...
Re: AW: Mom is getting excited about adoption
Dr. Loretta -- That's so nice. I'm so glad that she's excited and starting to get ready, too! It took my mom a long time before she bought anything for us; she was really nervous about making me upset. I, on the other hand, wanted her to get excited about it!
So happy for you!
Wendy
awwww, that's so awesome!! My mom tells me she's happy we're adopting, yet every week she calls to tell me about the latest fertility-boosting herb/acu treatment/tea/etc. that she's heard about. ugh. It's so annoying.
My SW says everyone processes things at their own speed, so I'm hoping and praying that she comes around before the baby arrives.
Hopefully she will come around. My mom did that for the first few months as well, but as we passed each adoption process milestone, she became more and more comfortable with the idea that adoption is how we will be building our family.
The thing that bothers her the most right now is not being able to buy stuff in pink or blue!
