I'm sure this post will have some eye rolls but of course I'm looking stuff up online and wondering if this is a factor to not getting pregnant. We have been using lubricant for the past few months and I'm having BFN and looking stuff up online it says lubricant can actually kill sperm.......hmmmm (never knew that)....so has anyone gotten pregnant on here while using lubricant such as KY?? I'm sure you still can but perhaps we should stop if this is a small factor.
Re: using lubricant and getting pregnant
I have not used it personally but remember someone said this worked.

We almost always use lube and we got two BFP's with it. I think you want to stay away from spermicidal lubricant, which is hard to find anymore. Regular KY shouldn't hurt.

I think most standard lubricants *can* hinder getting pregnant. Doesn't mean it will stop it, but from what they've study it's possible.
We didn't take the chance & switched to Preseed. I think there are plenty of people who get pregnant using lubricant, but if you have any other issues or just want to be "better safe than sorry", try out the Preseed. Good luck!Of course, now that I typed that out I did a little google research myself and it seems like it could be a factor?

From what I've read (Taking Charge of Your Fertility) you shouldn't use just regular KY because it doesn't present the best environment for sperm to live and travel.
It recommends Eggwhites, but I never tried that. I did however use Pre-seed and did get pregnant on my 8th cycle using it. The biggest difference i s that you insert it inside and you don't use a lot because it's really slick. I was impressed with it.
I would recommend Preseed.
If you try preseed - DON'T inject it. Any foreign stuff in there can make a difference in the movement of the sperm. Although preseed doesn't kill sperm, it doesn't necessarily help it either. Use it externally as you would any other lubricant and ditch the applicator.

i was all freaked out about using it because of what I read. after 4 BFNs, the month I did get pregnant, I used regular lube. imagine that
we were having so much "just get pregnant" sex, I needed it!
I think if you are having tons of problems, there are 75 things you can change that are recommended.
personally I think a lot of it is a marketing myth.
But, I don't see how it's a marketing myth, since KY/Astroglide would actually sell LESS if this is true. And Preseed is the only stuff out there that is marketed to help fertility (and as Janimal & others said, I don't think it helps, so much as doesn't hurt if you need to use lube) and it's hardly well known enough to be considered a marketing ploy, as opposed to KY & Astroglide. Astroglide actually says on its website to discontinue use if you're trying to get pregnant for awhile and are unsuccessful.
ETA: Or, I should say Astroglide DID have that on their website because at the time I had looked it up. I don't know if it still has that info.
