Where is mattslady?

Or does she only show up to tell me what a b!tch I am?

Re: Where is mattslady?

  • She goes in posting spells.

I could post about being a spoiled housewife or the fact that I'm independent leaning conservative and she might come out to tell me it's tired and I'm not as smart as I think I am, which is ALWAYS a good time.  I <3 mattslady.

She could be in Disney though since she was just asking about some diaper/traveling stuff a week or two ago.

  • Was it mattslady that did that pabst about the spoiled housewife?  Wasn't there two of you?  Who was the other?
  • Loading the player...
  • my girl, minnasmommy!  LOL.

Yes, there were two of us.  I was in good company though.

  • pabst doesn't seem like mattslady's style.  I forgot it was her.

So, what are you doing today eclaires?  Mani?  Pedi?  The pool boy? ;)

  • the pool boy, duh!

In reality, I had a very exciting day of Target, MAC makeup counter, post office and Sam's Club.  Yes, it was as classy and fabulous as it sounds.

I even had an Icee w/ Jackson from Sam's Club.  It's a life of luxury.

  • An Icee?? Gah you are spoiled! Sheesh.

Seriously though - I thought I remembering you mentioning you were going to practice when you moved. Are you still thinking about that? I have no reason for asking, other than to be nosy so you can ignore me.

  • Yes, I will be!

The issue is not really complicated, mostly kind of long explanation - initially we were going to move to my hometown in Southern Indiana, where I would obviously still be in Indiana, and covered under the IN bar exam.  MH had gotten a job closer to that area and was commuting from where we lived near Indy.  He ended up getting laid off, which was incredibly sucky since they lured him there w/ more money and benefits from his job but then the economy tanked.  So at that point we were looking at jobs for him where we were and where my hometown was as well as jobs outside of those areas, and I was going to wait until he got a job to make a decision on where I would look for a job [since we were fine financially and he had severance, etc.].  THEN, he got like 3 offers at once, one in my hometown, one where we were and one in TN.

The one in TN was basically a dream job for him, paid significantly more, had the best benefits, including relocation benefits, so we decided to go for it even though we knew no one here and I would be unemployable initially.

Long story short - that means I have to take the TN bar exam to practice and can't do so until February.  So I'm basically just going to SAH until I get my results at least, but I may SAH longer if we have another baby.  It will really just depend, but I'm taking the TN bar exam in February.

If we had moved to my hometown like we had planned, I'd probably have been working now for 6 months or so.

  • ahhh I didn't realize you had to re-take the bar exam in the new state. I guess that would make sense, just not something that had really occurred to me.

You'll have to tell me how you like it there in another year or two, when you get really settled. DH and I have talked very seriously about moving to Knoxville. However, our plans have been slightly postponed b/c we need to move closer to my ILs for a while - FIL is not as healthy lately and they could use the help. I can't help but be disappointed b/c 1. the longer we stay in FL the longer I want to die, and 2. I yearn for the weather and scenery. But it's hard to move away when they need us.

  • Yeah that would be really difficult to move when your in laws are having health issues!

I loved Indy for some things, but I also felt like the longer we stayed, the more I was locked into it and I wanted to die at that thought.

So far, we love Knoxville - it seems to be a great area and we plan to stay here indefinitely at this point, much to my husband's parents' dismay.

Oh and some states will accept your bar exam scores but some won't - it just varies.  Also, if you've practiced for 5 years there are more states that won't make you retake.  I'm not really looking forward to it right now... but it's necessary.
