b/c i am already overweight, my OB recommended i not gain more than 10 lbs overall w/my pregnancy. this is consistent w/the real life experiences of other plus sized family members that have had several pregnancies. when they gave birth, overall they lost weight between the baby and all the water/tissue, etc.
this isn't typical for all women though. especially if you are in a healthy weight range already. here are some links that are consistent to what i have read, but it isn't specific to trimester (i know details like that were more available in my "what to expect when you're expecting" book).
I have gained 3 lbs so far. I think I probably gained 2 lbs by week 8. But, it is all belly bloat! Although I have gained only 3 lbs., I look about 4-5 months PG. I have been wearing bellabands and larger pants since week 8. Every woman's body and every PG is different, so I wouldn't worry too much about the timing of weight gain. I think the average total weight gain is 25-35 lbs total -- some women gain it early, while others gain it late.
I gained 3 pounds by week 13 when I went for my end of 1st trimester check up. I was a runner before I got pregnant and although I have stopped running, I have maintained a very active schedule and continued to workout through my pregnancy (I still hit the gym 4 days a week). Also I eat very healthy and stay away from the junk food, but that is just me.
Everyone is different. Everyone starts at different weights, has different eating and workout patterns and different health issues. You shouldn't be comparing yourself to others. Consult your doctor and as long as doc says you are healthy then that's all that matters.
So the scale says 5 lbs...but I honestly think about 3 lbs of that is poop. Sorry....but I am so freakin constipated I am miserable!!!
I gained less that 25 lbs with each of my other kids, but I was also about 10-15 lbs heavier when I got pregnant with them than I was this go round....
I had gained no weight at 8 weeks. I was up 2 pounds at 10 weeks, an additional 2 pounds at 14 weeks, and I think I'm up another pound right now...for a total gain of 5 pounds at 15 weeks.
I started out about 10 pounds overweight, so the doctor says my weight gain is right on track.
When I got weighed this last Friday (17 weeks, 6 days) I had gained 4 pounds since my very first visit. We went on a one week cruise, with tons of food, and not much exercise. I'm surprised I didn't gain more. My appetite hasn't been too great.
I didn't gain much in the first tri (food sounded awful). Now I am at 17-18 weeks and I've gained 6 total. It seems to have picked up over the past two weeks. 6 doesn't sound like a lot but it feels like a ton of bricks!
Re: weight gain?
I don't remember exactly how much I had gained at that point, but I do know it was more than 3 lbs.
According to my scales this morning I am up 16 pounds. I'm not going to fret though. LOL.
