TTC #2+ question

Hey ladies. A little back story before my question.

I was on BCPs before DD and got off in Oct 07. Within 2 months I was pregnant. My body readjusted faster than I thought and hardly put in any effort. It was great. After DD was born I got the Mirena IUD. This April I got it taken out so we could begin TTC again. My OB told me that I should have no problems and that I would be fertile immediately. FAIL! My cycle is all out of wack. We have been TTC #2 for 6 mos now and it is a little discouraging bc it was so easy to get pregnant the first time. I am wondering if the IUD messed me up or if something else is wrong. I understand that TTC can take time. I don't think I would be as concerned if it had taken longer the first time.

So, any 2nd+ time moms have any issues TTC again?

My OB-GYN told me that some women are "super-fertile right after stopping BCP's".  He always recommended waiting until we were ready to TTC to stop my BCP's, which I did.  The being super fertile right after stopping them has been the case for me!   I got pg with #2 my first cycle off of BCP's in 13 years.  I got pg with #3 my second cycle off of BCP's.  I got pg with #4 (which I m/c'd) my first  cycle off of BCP's. The longest it took me to get pg was after my m/c- it took me 5 cycles. I joked that maybe I needed to go on BCP's & then get off of them so I could get pg right away!  So, I think that your being on BCP's & then going off of them probably boosted your fertility the first time around.  It takes the average woman 6-12 months to get pg. 

When I was TTC the last time around, after my m/c, I was getting frustrated, since I was used to it happening within 2 months TOPS.  My OB-GYN said he would not even look into it until I had been TTC for 11-12 months & reminded me that I was well within the normal amount of time for it to take to get pg.

I had my IUD out in May and I'm still not pg... I was wondering if it was the IUD or something else-or nothing. LOL

I am seriously considering that the IUD is the problem! lol

We started TTC #2 when DD was about 18 months. I was still bfing 3x a day and throughout the night at that point. But I had had my period for about a year when we started, and OPKs showed that I was ovulating. We tried for 6 months and nothing.

Then I took a new job (March 08) so we put things on hold. 7 months later I got laid off. Then in March 09 I started my current job. We're finally at the point where we're starting to TTC again. I have no idea what's going to happen. I haven't been on any kind of birth control since before DD was born. We haven't been preventing for the last year. I'm still not pg. I have a feeling it's not going to be easy this time.

I'm really sorry to hear of your job/TTC troubles. I am charting and know that I am Oing, just not getting pregnant. It is very frustrating.

I got pg first cycle off BCP with dd and now we have been TTC #2 since Jan and I guess I have low progesterone and super long cycles..starting Femara this week

I hope you get preg soon! I think I have progesterone problems as well having a average LP of 11 days.
