Wanted to share this idea/project we're doing...

Since we're doing this for Sadie and I thought I'd share the idea here as your LO's will be arriving any day now. It's kind of "kill two birds with one stone" for me as I need to "do" something with my wedding dress as well. We're not religious so I was never going to turn it into a Baptism/Christening gown and I wouldn't expect Sadie will want to wear it down the road. So here is what we did...

We saved all of Sadie's cutest outfits from her first year, not everything just the cute or memorable outfits (so her 1st halloween shirt and 1st thanksgiving shirt that says "Im a little turkey" and her Christmas dress etc). took them to a seamstress and she's making a patchwork quilt out of the clothes using my wedding dress as the backing. We also added to the clothing the shirt Dh wore at the wedding (which happened to be pink) so there is a little of both he and I in there.

The only special outfit that's not going in the quilt is the one she wore home from the hospital. I'm putting that with her birth announcement and her 1st pair of shoes in a shadow box type thing and hanging it.

The quilter I am using charges $10 per hour to make it, so it's a little pricey (she said it will be 40 or 50 hours of work) but it's a keepsake and well worth the money, to us.

Too bad it's so pricey... but I'm positive my Mom could do this--she's pretty talented with a sewing machine

Yes! If you have somebody that can do it then it would be awesome!
