Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Holy bajeezus!

I got up to use the bathroom, so I went to check on DD in her crib, and she had squirmed her way completely SIDEWAYS with her head right up against the wood!

WTF!?

She has never moved more than a couple of inches while sleeping before - I am SHOCKED she was able to do this swaddled up tight in her swaddle-me! If DH wasn't asleep the whole time I would swear he moved her that way!

1. Should I stop swaddling her if she's capable of this kind of movement, even though (as far as I know....) she can't roll over?

2. I never used the bumper pad because of the increased SIDS risk, but geez, maybe I should have it in there after all!

What do you think?

Re: Holy bajeezus!

  • We use a mesh bumper from Babies R Us but I think they are available at Target too. They are breathable. Our DD did the same thing. She kept getting her limbs stuck so we bought the mesh bumper - problem solved!

  • My LO does this frequently unfortunately.  She also gets her poor little arms and legs over to the side and sticking out.

I bought a breathable bumper and it should be here any day now.  It actually bothers me a lot more than it bothers her...she sleeps right through it!
