Baby Names

Anyone care to brainstorm??

We're not 100% on Cate (for a few different reasons) but I was wondering if anyone would be willing to put forth some similar name ideas.

We love that Cate is simple and sweet...cute for a baby and could be professional for an adult. I like that it doesn't really have an instant nickname (if we choose)...I like that I can envision DD as a Cate in every phase of her life.

I also like Claire and Nora but those are vetoed by DH. Other names in our family to stay away from: Kali, Mikayla, Emilee, Mila, Ava, Lilly, Amelia, Madeleine (of course!), Taylor, Meghan....

I also don't like anything tooooooo girly (like Kimberly - DH's fav) or anything in the top ten, really.

Any suggestions would be MUCH appreciated!!!!!

  • Other simple names that aren't too popular and would work in every stage of her life:

    Anne

    Mia

Mary/Marie (I never see this as a fn, only an mn. I think it would be really refreshing as a fn)

    Rose (same as Mary/Marie)

    Naomi

    Elise

    Hope

    Alice

    Jane

    Elle

  • Tessa.   Can transition to Tess in her later years if she likes.

It's different without being overly cutesy or odd.

    It's feminine without being saccharine

  • Elizabeth- so many cute nn for when she is little (Betsy would be my favorite) and then also a good grown up name

    Adele

    Helen

    Martha

    Margaret/Maggie/Margie

    Paige

    Grace

    Suzanne or Susannah?

  • Some names that I think have a strong yet sweet quality like Cate are...

Reese, Elaine (Elle), Gwyneth (Gwen), Natalie, Erin, Darcey, Hannah,  Laura Leigh, Hallie, Eve, Jane, Everly, Sheila, Laurel, Auden, Delaney, Calla, Alaina, Camilla, Audrey, Ellen, Susan, Drew, Lydia

  • Go with Cate. It sounds so cute with Evan and it's a gorgeous name. I'm jealous! I wish we could use that name but it doesn't sound good with our last name and DD's middle name is Catherine.
  • Cate Susan is a really beautiful combination- i love it
  • Anne, Rose, Elle... and Claire. I like it too! :)
