Re: Red paint...

  • I agree and feel your pain.  We did a 15 inch horizontal stripe in the room in red and had to do 4 coats.

    Good luck!

  • What brand of paint are you using??? I painted a red wall in my dining room and used Valspar paint and only needed one coat!! NO JOKE!!! It is a little more expensive but it is totally worth it! :) Hope this helps!

  • I guess this advice is too late but the trick is using grey/charcoal primer instead of pink.  I also used Valspar brand and only needed one coat.

  • Trust me I am using Valspar.  It's not working like I thought it would...

It's alright, I'll make it through!

  • what is the name of the red paint that you are using?

  • I can't believe a Lowe's employee didn't recommend a dark gray primer.

Only half the pigmentation of what is used in the paint is used in the primer which is why you ended up with pink.

Good luck with all your coats and hope you get the desired color!! Painting reds is the worst!
