on why the parenting board has become so slow?

Do we just not need as much advice now that most of us have older kids or are second time parents?

Did we all just get sick of the drama?

Has there been a mass exodus--which begs the question, who left and how the hell did they break free?

Are we all still here and just not posting?

What is it?

Part of it is the one million boards.  Also, a lot of people seemed to get weirded out by the post counts vs. replies discrepencies.

The majority of us are no longer sleep deprived which makes for less drama.  And this board w/out drama is just BORING!

I think it is a few things:

1.  More ppl have had another baby and are busy

2.  Some got involved in drama and GBCN

3.  Ppl here aren't posting all that much

4.  Without some drama, it is slow

I'm finding myself more busier the older Michelle gets.  I'm never home during the mornings due to preschool, PT & pool therapy...and then add on 2 teenagers, 1 is in community college & the other one is a Jr. in H.S.

Yea, I think it's this. And that makes it so slow.. I'm usually on 3rd tri more because it's busier.?

My theory is there are too many spin off boards.  I've been here since there was only Baby Talk on the Knot, so it was the only option.  It was fine when they separated BOTB and Parenting, but then they created all of the other boards.   

We've always had some amount of turnover, but when old people left there were new ones to keep the board running.  I think the newish parents are just going from the 3rd trimester board over to 0-6 month.  Somebody asked this question on the 3rd trimester board a few months ago, and many of them didn't even know there was a Parenting board.

For me it's the spin off boards.  While I don't want to see this one leave, as it's my fave, it's so slow I often don't even check it.  I head over to 2nd tri (currently.)

For me personally, it's because I'm usually busy as helll with 2 kids and all sorts of other shiz.  I've got no time to sit around and nest.  Also, I think the maniacal splitting of the boards made things weird.  It's way too spread out now.

There's a myriad of reasons why the Nest sucks now. It's primarily due to the eleventy billion boards that have been created. I mean, do we really need a "Snarky and T-TTC" and is it really necessary to separate "Parenting" from "Parenting after 35?" It's freaking ridonkulous if you ask me.

Plus, a lot of regulars got KTFU and have popped out their second+ kid, so they're far busier now than before.

Also, the Nesterds who were so easy to snark on back in the day don't frequent the board as much. *le sigh* Couple that with the board being inundated with passive agressive PC posters, and it's Lame City around here.
