Stripper names (just for fun)

Anyone ever see that Chris Rock special where he says a father's #1 job is to "keep your daughter off the pole"? 

I would never say in a WDYT thread that the name sounds like a stripper name, but those come up every once in a while.  Do you guys ever think of that?

For example, I'm 1/2 Russian and think there are a lot of truly beautiful Russian girl names.  But I always think that in the U.S. they are associated with stripper names.  Argh.  Katarina, Natalia, Anya, eta., I'd never use.

There are others.  Dallas.  Candie.  I dunno...

If you were naming a stripper, what would you call her?

I personally wouldn't have thought Katarina, Natalia, or Anya were stripper names.

Honey

Shasta

Also, a friend claims to have seen Crystal Chandelier on a billboard.

I don't think of Katarina, Anya or Natalia as stripper names at all.

Maybe if one happens to know of some Russian strippers w/ those names, they'd think so, but those are definitely not stereorypical stripper names! lol

I absolutely love the name Svetlana.  DH hates it and thinks it's a total stripper name.  That's all I've got!

I wouldn't think of Katarina, Natalia, or Anya as "stripper names."  I think they're lovely.  Now, I wouldn't name an American-born daughter Olga or Lyudmila, but that's just because they sound clunky and stuffy in English.   And I wouldn't name an American-born daughter Anastasia since the traditional diminutive is Nastya, which doesn't work at all in English.

Anyway, Anya is the diminutive for Anna, so you could always name a girl Anna and use Anya as the nickname.

When I think of strippers I think of Krystal, Jenna (mostly b/c of the porn star), Candy...

I like those names well enough, and I wouldn't call them stripper names. They might be expensive escort names, but I don't hear them and think "stripper". Actually, I think they are nice.

As for actual stripper names: Trixie, Candy, Roxie.

I have always thought Amber sounded a little stripper-esque even though I do like the name....

Diamond, Saffyre, Precious, Teena, Ebony, Raven, Heaven, and Bliss are also a bit on the pole spectrum....
