Can I pull brown into this nursery?

My mom and I are taking a class to make this quilt for the twins' room on Sunday. 

These are the materials we're using, and the "snuggle bunny" is the embroidery we'll use (instead of pooh). 

I really want to pull some chocolate brown into the room, but not sure how possible it is.  What if 1/2 of the "snuggle bunny"'s were brown, had blue walls, brown curtains, and a few other brown accents?  I want it to coordinate, not just look like everything's being thrown together.  DH and my mom just say I should have the room painted yellow, but I don't want yellow, don't know why, but I'm stuck on wanting to pull in some chocolate (maybe because DS' room was yellow).  So what do you think?  Can I do what I want, or should I just throw in the towel and go with their opinions?

I'm not super creative, but I think if you made half the squares a chocolate color that would pull it together.  However, I think brown and blue are super cute together and you don't really need to make any changes to the quilt.  Also, with the yellow, there doesn't appear to be any on the quilt to "justify" that a yellow would work better than brown.  Good luck!

DH and my bedroom is blue and brown so yes you certainly can do those two together... if you can change anything about the quilt i would take and do the light blue "L" shape keep that and change the dark blue portion to brown then you can certainly do whatever you want...

I think brown would be a beautiful accent color for those blues.  I woudn't necessarily change the look of the quilt (although if you did I agree with the changing the dark blue).  Adding accents with curtains and bedding is probably the best way to go.  As far as wall color, personally I would either do a brown on the bottom of the wall and the light blue on the top with chair rail in between or one accent wall with the brown and the others with the light blue.

I think adding in brown would look fine even if you didn't add it to the bedding. Brown and blue look great together. Is your furniture brown b/c that will definitely pull it together as well.
