I asked my family physician if they are getting the H1N1 vaccination. Or, if I should get one since I have diabetes. She said the vaccine is not being given out everywhere. It is rationed out by the CDC to hospitals and schools or people who are exposed to sick people. And she said that just because I have diabetes does not mean that I would qualify to get it.
Are you all finding it is readily available or the same thing?
Re: Availability of H1N1?
Last thing I was told was that children ages 2-3 were going to be given priority. Before that, I was at the top of some list just below health-care workers b/c I'm PG and I have asthma. Who has priority and whether or not you can get it or find it, is all going to change. When I talked to the nurse at my CNM's office yesterday, she said they were told that they were hoping to get the vaccine in around the 15th and would probably start a list on the 12th and then try to figure out who to give it to based on "priority" or "risk factors" of some kind.
ETA - The CDC has a list of those groups that they consider "high risk" and who should be given priority.
