Can someone please explain to me why they're so expensive? I just don't get it. If I had a sewing machine, I could whip a few up quickly, but I don't, and I don't want to spend $40+ on something that should cost $7, I think.

Agreed! Depends on the fabric sometimes and if its down or just fluff.
I have found that the cheaper you go, the flatter they get faster. My nicer onces definitely last for years vs. months with el cheapos. Depends on where they are going I guess.
Target's are not bad, and I have found good sales at Pier 1. (Recently got 2 for $7 each).
I also have bought the pricier Pottery Barn ones, because they sell covers separately. I have then found great covers in their clearance at the end of each season, and the pillows themselves have lasted forever.
I love throw pillows.
I KNOW!! I want new ones desperately, but can't justify $100 for new pillows for both sofas. So we keep the ones that came with them.
I've found some REALLY cute ones at TJMaxx. But, yes, they are ridiculously overpriced. I think that most rugs are too.
I agree though, they do suck. The ones we registered for our wedding that we got were $24 bucks a pop and they already have rips in them.

Oh, and Glow, when I first read the title, I thought we were starting a pillow fight!

The ones that I bought at IKEA were $20 and the really beautiful ones I got from Pier 1 were $15 each. I typically only buy them if I love them, or if they are on sale.
I agree Glow - they're too expensive. However...making your own is a challenge....I can never seem to get the stuffing quite right...

It totally drives me crazy when throw pillows cost that much! We have a store called Homegoods, around here, and I always get my throw pillows there because they are much, much cheaper.
I do have a sewing machine, but oddly enough, it is not as easy as you would think to make a nice throw pillow, that does not look lumpy.
Funny I thought this also!

It seems like all the decorative stuff seems to cost so much in relation to what you are getting. It makes my blood boil.
When I was little my mother had a sewing machine and I learned how to sew pilliows and quilts... things like that. My mom used to actually make our halloween costumes on it!
I really should bite the bullet and shell out the cash for a sewing machine. It would be so helpful in the long run.

I've also gotten some nice ones from Costco
I'm so with you on this! It's ridiculous!
I usually make mine, but there have been ones I found that were so cute, but I couldn't justify the cost.
