Re: PG>35 Weekly Check-In: 10/02/09
TGIF!! I am looking forward to sleeping late tomorrow.
4 weeks until our big u/s. I just can't wait! I guess I have to though.
My next checkup is a week from tomorrow.
My nausea is finally gone. Yay. Heartburn is still around. Boo. As long as I take my PepcidAC it keeps it under control though. Thank goodness.
We've decided to drive down to NC and pick up my boys for Christmas then we will take them back 2 weeks later and have our shower. I can't wait for Christmas.
Everyone probably heard my sappy story about the cookbook. LOL. I love it!
Wow look at all those fabulous AMA mamas! I can't believe we'll start getting June EDDs soon.
Not much going on pregnancy wise right now. Passed my 1 hour glucose and as a result I have been eating way too much sugar this week. We're going on the tour of the hospital birthplace next week and I am excited about that. I don't know why. I don't really have a choice in hospitals so if I don't like it, well that's just too bad for me.
This weekend DH is running a half marathon and other than that we'll just be watching lots of football.
Silly question for you guys. Do spell it "mama" or "momma"? All my life I've spely it "mama" (maybe a southern thing) but lately I've noticed lots of "momma"s. Just curious.
Hi ladies! Things with me are good; not much new to report. We're waiting to get the CD from our fetal echo last week; the doc played around with the 3D feature and got some pics of our little girl's face, and since my H couldn't come with me to the appt, the doc said he'd burn a CD and send it to us. I can't wait to get it!
We went to look at some daycares this week. I'll be honest: After we left the first one I burst into tears. I am having trouble seeing myself leaving my little girl all day already--Lord only knows what'll happen when I actually have her here! Aside from the fact that daycare is going to bleed us dry financially (but not so much that it'd be worth it for H to quit working and stay home), we found 2 places that we liked pretty well, so that's reassuring.
Otherwise, just cookin' along. We're going to go register tomorrow which should be fun--I got the Baby Bargains book and found it really helpful, so now I feel like I somewhat know what I'm doing when I go register. Also, we talked to our parents and we're going to do one joint shower. MIL was totally fine with it, which was a relief, and they're both still super excited about it, as are we.
Laura, I always spell it mama, too!
I've always spelled it "mama" too. Maybe it's a regional thing.
Hello, It is so nice to see this big list of wonderful AMAers!
I have the day off work! We got new carpeting so I am going to start working on getting the baby's room together.
Oh and it is just me or does candy corn taste especially good this year :-)
lebraly-I have always spelled it mama
I finally got my results back from the first tri screen. My adjusted risk came back at 1:570 for Tri 21 and 1:10000 for Tri 18. I really like the Tri 18 number. But I am ok with the Tri 21 number, being 39. As of now not planning on amnio, unless OB really thinks it is important.
I can't wait for my appt on Wed. I hope all is still well. I am a little nervous this week that I can't explain.
Good luck to all and have a great weekend!
Ummm, yeah. I polished off a 1lb bag last week and have now had to ban it from our house because I have no self control around it.
Good morning and TGIF!! : )
I'm knocking on third tri's door and couldn't be happier. Oh wait, yes I could: I've been finally feeling my lil sweet pea from the outside this week (I was considerably overweight pre-pg)!! : )

Yikes! I'm in the Top 10 now!!
Today is my 5th wedding anniversary to the sweetest man in the world. He's travelling for work and will be home late tonight.
But he just had a lovely wooden rocking chair delivered for me! Okay, it came at 7:15 this morning, but it's gorgeous and I'm so excited to rock our baby in it.
Morning Ladies,
Not much new to report here. Just waiting on my next check up on the 20th. It seems like time is just moves so slowly when it comes to dr. appointments. I did get my flu shot yesterday and boy does my arm hurt. It is still a bit tender. I hope that goes away soon.
Good morning everyone!
I had a checkup on Wednesday and heard the baby's heartbeat. My preliminary results from the NT scan (first blood test and first u/s) are very good. I have a second blood test and an anatomy scan in 11 days. I'll only be 16 weeks, but I'm hoping they might give us a guess on gender.
I'm attending a scrapbooking event tomorrow with a friend, so that should be fun. Other than that, weekend plans involve trying to clean out the nursery a bit more, and maybe pulling some weeds in the yard. We'll probably do more fun stuff when the weather cools down later in the month. It's still a little warm here (90-ish), so we're trying to get more inside stuff done now.
Hey Ladies!
Well, I had a great week. Last saturday was my shower and it was amazing. My husband, our baby and I are so loved and spoiled. We got so many beautiful and amazing gifts. I'm going to take some pics and try to post them this weekend to show you what I mean. I was surprised that my 82 yr old gramma made the 4 hour trip, just to attend the shower for a couple of hours. I didn't think she would, especially knowing that my aunt and cousin were visiting here from a long distance away. Turns out she just brought them with her. My Aunt lives in California, I'm in South Western Ontario, Canada and haven't seen that aunt in at least 15 years. My cousin lives in Calgary and I haven't seen her in about 10 years. She also brought her 3 month old daughter.... quite the family reunion. It was awesome.
I had my 34 week checkup and everything is really good. Good BP, nothing worth noting on the urine test, baby is very active and heartrate is amazing. I'm right on target as far as growth goes and the doc doesn't seem to be concerned about the lack of weight gain at this point (I'm up only 15lbs total so far). I'm eating like crazy, and baby is growing well. He's still head down (has been since 28 wks) and other than a super sore pelvis and tailbone, I have no real complaints. I go see him again at 36wks, then weekly after that. Time is flying....I can't wait for Carter's arrival!
My Peri told me today Baby B, placenta and fluid all look "Perfect and couldn't look any better"
It doesn't get any better than that!
Just purchased a crib and need to get shopping.....diapers, bottles, you name it - we don't have it yet. Nesting is kicking in, I have to get organized!!
Add me to the list, Mama! EDD is May 4, 2010.
I'm 9 weeks and everything is going well so far. I still have the symptoms of fatigue, food aversions and a temper flare every once in awhile. Gotta love those hormones raging through your veins. I'm going in on October 15th to have my 1st trimester screening. 2 1/2 hours with genetic counselors and doctors. The hubby is definitely attending that one with me!
Cheers to all the Mamas!
Another week with everyone doing well, I love it!
I spell it "Mama."
I dodged the induction for another week, but the doctor seems pretty convinced that she'll have to come out early. I'm taking it easy, which in a weird way if more stressful for me. I tend to be active, and I like to keep ahead of things, and watching the housework back up a bit or the last-minute shopping get neglected makes me uncomfortable.
Ah, well. Soon, soon .
Congrats to all the new mommas, and congrats to all the BFP!!
WE ALL ROCK! :-)
Hi everyone~ Had our weekly appt on Tues and when I was hooked up the the NST, the doc told me I was having contractions every 2 minutes!! She said to make sure that I don't go out of town anytime soon and that maybe she will see me next week (b/c she means I might have the baby by then!!)
The contractions are not very strong, but last night I had a few that were. Whew! Took my breath away! So H started timing them and in the 40 mins that we timed them, I was having one about every 3 minutes and they were lasting for about a minute each. Called the doc and they said to wait and see if they got more intense and then to call back. Never had to call back, just went to bed and luckily was able to sleep.
I was glad the doc did not say to go to the hosp, b/c I don't want to show up there and then have them tell me to go home.
But I have to say I defintely think that something is going on...
(or maybe it is b/c I am so tired and stressed at work that I know having the baby is the only way to not have to go, so I am wishing this baby out!)
Good morning everyone! I had my 1-hour glucose screen yesterday so i'm just waiting to hear the (hopefully fantastic) results of that. We finished painting the nursery last night. Just FYI, if you want a good no VOC paint, Natura by Benjamin Moore is fab! No odor at all! It's a little pricey but totally worth it if you are doing it yourself. Wait, who am i kidding?! My husband did 99% of it...but i was in there all the time supervising! LOL! My next appointment isnt for 6 weeks, doc says things are going so well that we may as well hold off unless i feel uncomfortable about it. He has recommended that i get the regular flu shot (no preservative!) & the H1N1 shot tho...I'm totally on board with the regular flu shot, i get one every year. But i'm still on the fence about the H1N1 as i'm sure a lot of people are.
Happy Friday!
OK maybe I'm just pg, but this made me cry! How sweet!
I am having a bit of a rough week with my big kids' attitudes, but I am thrilled to be out of the first trimester and I am starting to feel a little more energetic. I can not wait to feel this baby move so that I can stop the constant worry!
Have a great weekend everybody!
"Mama" Kate
Hello all you hot mommas! I am so very happy that fall is here and just picked up a loaf of pumpkin nut bread from The Fresh Market - nom nom nom!!!! Baby-wise, I couldn't be happier. She is moving around very consistently and I have not had any odd contractions or discomfort. We have our 36 week appointment on Tuesday and then start weekly after that. I am hoping the little bugger gets upside soon - she's been head up or transverse pretty much the whole time. I'm not worrying just yet and hopefully some yoga will get her moving this weekend. My EDD is 11/2, but I would so love a Halloween baby!!
Shannon - can you update that we FINALLY have a name - she will be Madison Shea.
Thanks!!
Hey Everyone! For what it's worth, I've used "mama" and "momma" interchangably.
This week I got my regular flu shot - the nurse did a great job, didn't hurt. Yesterday I had my bi-weekly OB check up. Delaney is doing wonderfully, however I had slightly elevated protein in my 24 hour urine specimen from last week so they want me to continue on the modified bed rest and bring in another 24 hour urine sample at my appointment in 2 weeks. My BP has been good and the swelling has gone down a lot. They just want to be on top of it all. Difficult since I've caught the nesting bug, but DH has been wonderful. We also had our natural childbirth class last night - not really what I expected. I was held at our hospital and it really just went over the birth process but didn't spend a lot of time on technique. The instructor is also a doula - she was good and entertaining....very educational about the process itself, but not so much about breathing techniques, etc. However, DH found it very helpful so he knows what he can do to help me. It will be just him and me in the delivery room.
Tuesday I have an u/s scheduled at the peri's office for a growth scan. Can't wait to see our little girl again!
Have a great weekend everyone!
This has been a rough week around my house. DH and I were both diagnosed with the H1N1 on Tuesday, plus he has severe pneumonia on top of it. Super scary stuff. Yesterday a friend in CA lost her battle with it- she was super healthy, only 28 and in a two week span went from having a 'bit of a cold' to being brain dead and removed from life support. We weren't super close, more like we were both close friends with the same people, if that makes sense, so I'm not sure why her death is hitting so hard, but it is.
My fever finally broke last night and DH's is way down (99.1 this morning), so it looks like we are finally on the up-swing, thankfully. Because he has pneumonia too they have been making us stay as isolated from each other as we can in a tiny house so I dont get exposed to it. Honestly I think that has been just as hard- when I'm feeling crummy I just want to snuggle into DH and it sucks that I can't.
The good news- since my fever broke I get to keep my appt for the targeted u/s on Monday and as if he knew that I needed lots of reassurance the baby has been *super* active all week. DH was able to stand in the doorway and see my tummy moving around!
Baby's HB is in the 170s, heard it for the first time on doppler at appt this past Tues. OB told me that b/c of my cervical history, I have to get an U/S and appt every two weeks. She also told me I have a large uterus. I don't know what that means, but I know I have a large belly.
OB also gave me a flu shot and told me that either at my next appt, in two weeks, or the one after that, in two weeks, I will get the H1N1 shot.
Hi ya Ladies..
It has been a good week for me also. However, I am starting to be a bit concern and anxious about my upcoming appointment which isn't until the 19th of October (16 weeks, 3 days). I want to be able to feel my lo moving around so I can be reassure that everything is okay.
We had celebrated my 40th yesterday and had a blast buying baby stuff at a garage sale for $10 (38 pieces of baby clothing and a stroller!). I also got two nursing tanks to help me out as my boobs are getting tender again.
I love my DP since she has been a wonderful person and I'm anxiously waiting for the "nesting" bug to kick in so I can help clean up our home! I just know it needs to be done..
(Sorry about the long vent)...
As for what we say: DP is Momma and I'm Mommie (but I won't be surprised if our LO calls us Mom!!!)
