Hinsdale Adventist or La Grange?

We're moving to LaGrange in a few weeks.  DD was born at Northwestern but I don't want to go downtown for every appointment, so I'm looking for OBGYN recommendations for Hinsdale or LaGrange.  Also if you have experience with either of these hospitals I'd love to hear.  TIA!

Re: Hinsdale Adventist or La Grange?

  • Congrats! I love LaGrange.

I actually go to Hinsdale (have my whole life) and I love it. My entire family also has gone to that hospital for as long as I can remember. I couldn't imagine going anywhere else. In regards to OBGYN's in the area...I go to West Suburban Women's Health in Willowbrook (right on Plainfield Rd.). They are wonderful! I have had my fair share of docs, and finally found a group where I feel comfortable. I actually meet with all of the doctors in the office and I truly like them all.

     Good luck with your search!!

  • I second West Suburban Women's Health and Hinsdale Adventist.  I received the most phenomenal care from both.  I just recently had my daughter in June at Adventist Hinsdale with the midwives through West Suburban.  Hindale is wonderful with large and spacious birthing rooms, one on one nursing during labor, and a complimentary massage the day after giving birth.  You won't regret going with West Suburban and Adventist Hindsale.

  • I third Hinsdale Adventist.  I will also mention that they have a Level III NICU (which hopefully you won't need) that has wonderful NICU staff and can handle just about everything.  Also, I was pleased because with the birth of DS I told my 1st nurse that I wanted to go pain-med free and not one time did any other nurse push me to get the epi - in fact, 2 of the 4 nurses knew Lamaze techniques.  They also have great lactation consultants and on staff and fitted me for a bra while there.  Finally, while DS was in the NICU I was allowed to stay in my room beyond my release date as long as they had the space.  I just had to provide my own meds and food.

My OB is Dr Pamela Dorne.  She has an office in Hinsdale

Now, if I could only find out how to get that hookup for the free massage...

  • I delivered at Hinsdale and recommend it also. They have a level 3 nicu (hopefully you won't need). Our L.O. was in the nicu for a week and we were happy with all the nurses and care. I also felt that the L.C. were amazing, i don't think i would still be breastfeeding if it wasn't for all theri help.

  • I recommend Jennifer Swoyer DO--she has been my OB/GYN for 6 years. She is based out of LaGrange but she works out of Hinsdale as well. She has delivered both babies for my best friend, and I am so grateful that she'll be there with me for the next 9 months as well!

  • My vote is for Hinsdale as well! I go to Women's Healthcare of Hinsdale and have now had appts with all the OB's in the practice. I love all of them!
