Babies on the Brain

Recommend your DSLR

I bought the Nikon D40 a couple years ago but want to upgrade. The camera has been a good beginner camera but I am ready to move on to something I can have more control over (and that I don't have to buy the AF lenses with the motor built in to them since the D40 doesn't have a built in AF motor). Not sure if I want to stick with Nikon (I only have 2 lenses that came with the camera so it's not like I'd be out some good glass) or switch to Canon (or another brand). Don't want to spend more than $1k.

And go...

  • Go to Canon.  You will love :)

  • DH bought me the Canon Powershot SD800 the Christmas before we got married (almost 3 years ago) and I love it. I am thinking of switching to a Canon just because I've had so much luck with the point and shoot.
  • We like our Canon Rebel.

The problem with the D60 like the D40 is it can't AF unless you have an AF lens with the motor built in.
  • The D60 is being discontinued.

    Canon Xsi all the way.

  • How about I sell you my D60 so I can upgrade?

LOL. Uhm...no. We should switch to Canon because MEE says so though. Didn't Sissy buy a Canon too?
  • I was drooling over my friend's D90 the other day. I have a D50, but it was discontinued a few years ago.

  • I don't post here very often, but lurk a lot....  My husband and I have a D300 and have had D90's in the past.  If you want to buy new I would recommend the D90.  However, you can get a D300 used for under a $1K.  Both have the ability to use non-AF lenses.

Yeah, Sissy has a Canon too.  I actually love my D60 right now.  Maybe next year I will upgrade. Hmpf.
