I have my check-up next week, and I need to get serious about what I am going to do about BC. I do not like hormonal options, but I (and DH) do not want to go with condoms. What am I using right now? P&P, but we know that is not effective. I am thinking about Mirena, but don't know anyone IRL that has it to ask about the procedure (pain, spotting, etc.).
What do you use? Do you like it? Was it covered by your insurance? Anything you care to add?
Re: Which birth control do you use?
My child.
This.
And an IUD. I love it. I've had it for 3.5yrs. Pros: NO PERIOD! I never forget my BC. No PMS, no cramps, none of that stuff. Cons: insertion was a bit uncomfortable. It's expensive.
My insurance covered it when I had it "installed." I think it's roughly $900. I've changed jobs, and this employer does not cover any non-medically necessary BC. (Jesuit university) so, when I have removed and another put in, I will have to pay for it out of pocket.
It's totally worth it to me to pay out of pocket.

But for backup I have the Mirena IUD. ;-)
