I don't know if it's the same with cats but I have heard that with dogs, they hump to show dominance. That is why female dogs sometimes hump, even if they are fixed too and don't actually do any humping when reproducing.
I don't know how to get them to stop so this post was completely useless.
I just got a mental picture. It made me smile. I wish I knew how to help.
What's weird is at first it's not obvious what he is doing, he does that kneeding thing that cats do and then rubs himself on things. I wish it was funnier instead it's just creepy..lol

Mine does too. He drags things into the basement (robes, sweatshirts, fleece's, blankets.....etc) and does it. We can't leave anything out or he takes it. I would love to know how to make him stop. Most of DH's sweaters have holes in them because of it. He's a freak (the cat, not DH)
Jake humps like a mofo. And he has been ball-less for quite some time. The water bottle squirting did nothing for it either, in fact I think it turns him on more.

Two options:
1: squirt bottle, give him a quick squirt of water and he'll get the idea
2: put double sided tape on things he likes to hump

We would tell the dog 'No' while we hit (not hard, more like a tap) him on the end of his nose.
It worked relatively quickly and now we no longer have this problem.
And he is neutered.
My SIL's two girl dogs hump eachother.
Potter, (the cat we had to put down in June, God bless his little kitty soul) used to hump.
Olive, our 2 year old fixed female Pug, humps.
I'm no help. I just like humping animals. Not humping animals. But...animals that hump. LOL.

You said hump.?
The mental pictures. They're too much.
